Police on Friday are seeking six people who attacked a food delivery man in Kiti overnight, stealing his motorcycle and mobile phone.
The attack happened around 8.20pm and the 28-year-old victim filed a complaint at the Kiti Police Station, Larnaca police spokesman Christodoulos Konsolos said.
The man had been riding his motorcycle on Grigoris Afxentiou Street in Kiti, where he stopped at some point due to road works.
According to the 28-year-old’s complaint, six unknown youths approached him and after assaulting him and throwing him to the ground, took his motorcycle and mobile phone and fled.
The 28-year-old did not suffer any external injuries but was taken as a precaution to the Larnaca general’s A&E, where he received treatment and was discharged.
Police subsequently found the motorcycle abandoned in an open plot of land around 500 meters from the scene, Konsolos said.
“Police are conducting an evaluation of CCTV in the area with the aim of identifying the perpetrators of the attack,” he said..
The incident is the latest in an ongoing string of assaults against foreign delivery drivers. An incident a little over a month ago in Limassol was caught on camera and the footage went viral on social media stirring public outrage.
Police found the 54-year-old perpetrator and charged him in writing for harassment and theft after he slapped a 19-year-old bicycle rider in the face and drove off with his mobile device.
