The Makenzie strip in Larnaca has taken over as the number one spot to be in the summer months.
While, up until just a few years ago, there were only a few established beach bars in the area, it has now become dominated by establishments that serve both as a café from the morning until the late afternoon, and a bar/club at night.
ReBuke is the latest in a long line of lifestyle bars to crop up in recent times, hoping to cash-in on Larnaca’s newfound trend. With so many similar all-day bars appearing within such a small space of each other, one might rightfully wonder just what makes one stand out from the other.
In terms of the interior and the general vibe of the place not a lot, but what it offers when looked at individually is impressive nonetheless. Overlooking the sea with a front-row comfy couch seat of any incoming or outgoing planes a beach ball’s throw away, it provides an ideal setting for a morning coffee or daytime drink.
ReBuke also has some impressive food on offer, and at good prices too. Rather than just light snacks or typical ‘bar food’, they have a lengthy menu of top quality dishes like fresh salmon, oysters, a host of fresh salads as well as plenty of grilled options. A burger and fries will set you back less than €6, which is a more than decent offer given the location.
There is also a vibrant atmosphere when the sun sets, with live DJs and performers on a regular basis throughout the summer months. A frappe might be the best choice in the morning but when the volume starts to rise, one of their cocktails is the way to go. There are also a host of local and imported beers on tap as well as plenty of bottled ciders which go down great in the summer heat.
The only big question that remains is whether it will survive the test of time to which so many others have fallen victim to in the recent past.
