
Five men aged between 23 and 37, will go to trial in Larnaca in October for the alleged rape of a British tourist in Ayia Napa on May 30.
According to the complaint made to police by the British tourist on Sunday morning May 30, between the hours of 1am and 3am she was taken to an unknown location in Ayia Napa and raped.
The five men, all from Limassol, were arrested over the course of the following days and remanded in custody.
The court has set bail for all five €5,000 eachplus surrender of travel documents.
Two of the five defendants have until now fulfilled the conditions laid down by the court and were released, while the other three have not and are still in custody awaiting trial, CNA reported.
The British tourist has returned home. The state will pay her expense to return for the trial, which h begins n October 9, if the court asks that she appear to testify.
