A young man wielding a sledgehammer robbed a kiosk in Larnaca in the early hours of Sunday, the Cyprus News Agency reported.
The man wearing a hoodie and gloves entered the kiosk on Faneromeni Avenue at around 4.40am holding the sledgehammer and a bag. He placed the bag on the counter and demanded the female clerk empty the till, threatening her with the weapon.
He took the money – around 200 euros – and fled, according to the report. A description given by the cashier said the man looked to be around 20 years old, and he had spoken with a Cypriot accent, she told police.
The kiosk did have CCTV. Larnaca police are investigating.
