Every city has its time to shine. Limassol has the carnival, Paphos has its Aphrodite Festival, Nicosia has – well, it has the winter season – and Larnaca has the Flood Festival.

The festival will have its big start at 8pm today with an opening parade followed by fireworks, and opening ceremony, and live performances by the Anatoli musical ensemble, followed by Cypriot dances.

Tomorrow the festival starts a bit earlier at 7.30pm with a Cypriot folk dancing contest, more dancing, a musical journey through beloved old Greek and popular songs and a concert by Greek singer Anypas at 11.20pm.

Sunday starts with some Cypriot folk poetry and love songs at 7pm, followed by a performance of traditional love songs by the Michalis Hatzimichael music ensemble, and dancers. The night’s concert will be performed by singers Babis Tsertos and Irini Toubakis.

Things will really come into swing on Monday when – after the Cypriot folk singing, dancing and fireworks – popular Greek singer Vasilis Karras will take to the stage.

The highlights on Tuesday are the Greek Song Contest for children and a performance by singer Christos Tsikkis at 10.55pm. The last day of the festival will start at 6pm with an address by the Mayor of Larnaca, Petros Christodoulou and end with a live performance by the Greek artist Stan.
