Around one hundred Covid-19 vaccines are being administered daily to the over 80s group at Larnaca’s old general hospital, an official said Tuesday.
Kyriaki Michail, visitors officer to the sector, told media on Tuesday that the process is simple as people turn up with their ID card and once their appointment is confirmed (booked online) they are given the vaccine.
Afterwards, she said, the person is asked to wait for about fifteen minutes to ensure that there are no side effects. Those with allergies are asked to wait a little longer.
“From the vaccinations [since last Monday] until now, there has not been a single citizen to have displayed symptoms or some other issue,” she said.
Michail said this was also the case for the vaccination programme within nursing and care homes, which is now almost complete, and no one displayed symptoms.
The first batch of the Pfizer Covid-19 mRNA vaccine arrived in Cyprus on December 26 at the same time it was being delivered across the EU.
