Road closed after fatal accident in Larnaca

The road from Larnaca airport to Kalo Chorio was closed on Tuesday morning after a road accident in which Stavroula Kakoulli, a 69-year-old woman from Tersefanou died.

According to police, at 11am the woman was driving on the wrong side of the highway to Larnaca airport. Her car collided with a vehicle driven by a man, aged 35 from Frenaros, coming from the airport.

After he was treated at Larnaca hospital with injuries to his hand he was released.

Kakkouli was also taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead. She was not wearing a seatbelt, initial investigations showed while the 35-year-old was.

Police said the road in both directions was closed until 1:30pm.
