
Three men aged 19, 20 and 26, from Larnaca and Dromolaxia have been arrested in connection with an attack on a 22-year-old foreign student on Saturday near Makenzie beach.
According to the Police, at around 3:30pm on Saturday the student was walking along when two cars pulled up beside him and three men got out and began to beat him with their fists. When he fell, they continued hitting and kicking him on the ground, the Cyprus News Agency reported.
One of the men, reports said, took the student’s wallet, which contained just over 2,000 euros. They then fled the scene but the injured man managed to get one of the licence plates and reported the attack to police.
Police later arrested the 26-year-old from Larnaca who, allegedly confessed and gave up the names of the other two from Dromolaxia who were also taken in to custody.
The injured man was treated at Larnaca hospital for cuts and bruises to various parts of this body and released.
The suspects are due in court later on Sunday.
