The fire which started in a parked vehicle in Larnaca in the early hours of Friday morning was started maliciously, police said.
The vehicle, which belonged to a 28-year-old man suffered “extensive damage” to its engine compartment, while a small commercial vehicle belonging to the man’s father suffered damage to its rear as a result of the fire.
Fire brigade spokesman Andreas Kettis said the fire broke out shortly before 2am and that two fire engines had been dispatched to the scene.
This is the second vehicle fire to break out the Larnaca district within the space of 24 hours.
