Suspected car arson in Larnaca

Arson is suspected to be the cause of a fire which destroyed a Ukrainian woman’s car early on Tuesday in Larnaca.

Around 1am the vehicle, which was parked at the entrance of an apartment building in the Phaneromeni area, was discovered to be on fire.

Members of the police force and the fire service rushed to extinguish the fire but the car worth €15,000 was destroyed.

Police reported that there was a strong smell of petrol at the scene and suspect that the car was set alight.

More tests will be carried out later to establish the exact cause of the fire.
