A 42-year-old man from the Larnaca district was arrested Friday night following reports he was shooting in the air with a hunting gun.
According to police reports, at around 10pm the man grabbed his father’s hunting gun and started shooting in the air in the streets.
The man was disarmed by customers of a nearby coffee shop, after his mother requested their help and was taken to his parents’ house.
According to his mother, police said, the 42-year-old is facing psychological problems, but is also battling with alcoholism and just before the incident he had consumed psychiatric drugs and alcohol.
The man, who admitted taking the gun and shooting it, was taken into police custody following concerns expressed by his relatives and residents.
