A 38-year-old man drowned off the coast of Pervolia on Saturday evening.
Kyprianos Gonatas from Nicosia was swimming near the journalists’ village area as his mother waited on the beach. At some point she lost sight of him in the water and alerted lifeguards.
The pulled the man unconscious from the water and gave him first aid to no avail.
Gonatas was taken by ambulance to Larnaca hospitial where doctors confirmed his death.
