In recent years, the bar scene in Larnaca has greatly improved. The old, once dilapidated buildings of the Laiki Yitonia area have been restored and rejuvenated while still keeping a lot of their original features, meaning that the bars are not only in beautiful stone buildings with character but also have their own twist of modern design.
Walking around the area one night, we heard the sound of music in the distance. As we walked along it got louder and led us straight into Stories day & night bar.
We were pleasantly surprised when realising the lovely Cuban music we could hear was a live duo. The happy, lively music instantly put us in a good mood and made us want to start dancing. Luckily for those around us, I refrained from doing so!
We went on a week night so the place wasn’t too busy and we managed to find a table. The waitress that showed us to our table and brought the menus was extremely friendly. My partner wanted wine but was unsure about which one to get so she let her have a taste of a couple so she could make up her mind.
I had gotten in to the Cuban spirit and decided a cocktail was in order! Many took my fancy. The pictures of the drinks on the menu made them look even more enticing. I ended up going for the Light Me Up.
Looking behind the bar, you could tell that they are very well organised. The different cocktail glasses were lined up with precision and the drinks perfectly placed on shelves
My drink arrived and it did not disappoint! The mixture of flavours was spot on. It was exactly what I was hoping for. It had a lovely reddish pink colour and a sweet flavour.
When leaving, we mentioned to the waitress that we really enjoyed the music and she told us that they frequently have live music and to keep an eye on their Facebook page for more information.
Lovely staff, a wonderful building and good drinks topped off with great entertainment means that I will definitely be going back to Stories soon!
