Authorities have detained four men on suspicion of drug trafficking after seizing one kilo of cocaine during a raid in the Larnaca area.
Three of the suspects, aged 35, 36, and 26, were remanded in custody for six days, while the fourth, 52, was remanded for two. All four are Larnaca district residents.
They were arrested on Tuesday morning during a police operation in the area of Kellia.
Drug squad officers watching an orchard in the area saw two individuals dropping something on the ground.
The officers tried to intercept the men but one managed to escape.
Officers found a kilo of cocaine at the scene but while there a third man approached and was arrested.
A few hours later, the drug squad received information that the escapee had been spotted at a particular address.
Officers raided the house and arrested the suspect and the owner. In their possession, officers found €4,110 in cash and a couple of grammes of cocaine and cannabis.
Police said the four were detained in connection with participating in a criminal organisation and drug trafficking, among others.
