A man, aged 31, was in custody on Tuesday, held over for trial until September 1, in connection with allegations of domestic violence, illegal entry to a home, attacking and causing grievous body harm, threatening to use violence, being drunk, verbal abuse in public, attacking and injuring policemen and resisting arrest.
The Cyprus News Agency reported that shortly after 6pm on Monday, a woman, 29, reported to the Kiti Police station in Larnaca that her ex boyfriend had entered her home through a broken window he had smashed during a fight they had in the past.
Allegedly, as soon as he saw her, he attacked her throwing her to the ground where she injured her knee. He reportedly bit her back and thighs and punched her left eye. She said he threatened he would come back and kill her.
After filing her report she was taken to Larnaca General Hospital and was picked up by her ex husband and a friend. They took her to their flat in Pervolia however the ex boyfriend was already there, the Larnaca court heard.
As soon as he saw them he allegedly started shouting and swearing and appeared to be in a drunken state. Police arrived and tried to arrest him but as they tried to handcuff him, he started to resist and hit out at them with his hands and feet. He was eventually taken to the Kiti station.
The two police officers visited Larnaca General Hospital where they were treated for abrasions on various parts of their upper bodies. One officer was bitten on his left palm while the other was bitten on the right hand.
The suspect was remanded by the Larnaca District Court until September 1 when the trial will begin.
